Clearwater
Clearwater and St. Petes are easy to get to from Tigger Woods. A few miles drive south on Highway 27 gets you to the Interstate I-4 and from there you head west towards Tampa.
Clearwater has a lovely beach and the water really is clear! There's a pier to stroll along and they put on entertainment, in the evenings.
There are restaurants on the marina where you can grab a bite whilst deciding how to spend your day. Many of the boats will take you out on the bay in search of dolphins. It's worth picking your craft carefully. The pirate boat will give your kids a good time but if you don't like your face being painted you may find it a bit of a chore. We went on the Sea Screamer - a huge speedboat. A nice ride but you have to put up with the Captain and First Mate insisting on you showing that you are having a good time before they will take you out of the bay. Note you will come back drenched and tasting of salt - to avoid the worst sit at the front. We did see dolphins (for a short while). There are other boats offering trips including one doing a dinner type cruise.
We ate a Crabby Bills (twice). There seemed to be other restaurants when we searched on the net but Crabby Bills has 2 restaurants and they were easy to find. One on the marina and one at Rocky Point in Tampa on the way home. Grabbed some dinner and watched the sun set over the Gulf.
We liked Clearwater.
