Car Hire & driving

Most of the major car hire companies are represented at Sanford and Orlando MCO.  We have used Alamo and Avis both of which were satisfactory.  If you are driving abroad for the first time it's natural to be a little apprehensive but don't worry.  Driving in Florida is less stressful than in the UK, just remember:-

You will almost certainly have an automatic - do not use your left foot for any of the pedals.

You can turn right on a red light if nothing is coming

The traffic lights are above the road hanging down

You can overtake on either side of the carriageway legally and not all exits are on the same side of the road.

The car boot (trunk) is smaller in the States than the equivalent car in the UK to consider upgrading the car to the next model up.
