Animal Kingdom

 Animal Kingdom is the newest of the four main Disney Parks.

It combines a zoo, with rides, shows and safaris.

Dominated by the huge (man made) Tree of Life the park is split into six sections.  The most popular attractions are 'It's tough to be a bug', the Kilimanjaro Safari, and the Kali River Rapids.

THE OASIS

A tropical garden set near the entrance which you can enjoy as you stroll to the other parts of the park.  You first reach

DISCOVERY ISLAND

As you cross the bridge to Discovery Island the Tree of Life dominates the eye line.  145 feet high it has carvings of 325 animals on it.  Here you will find the show 'It's Tough to be a Bug' a 4-D show where 'Flick' takes you through the difficulties of being a bug.

AFRICA

Stroll through Harambe (an African village).  Entertainment is put on here regularly although most guests are heading for the Kilimanjaro Safari.  A trip on a 32 passenger truck through the savanna where you will see plenty of animals and maybe even the odd poacher!  When you complete your trip don't miss the Pangani Trail where you will see more animals.

ASIA

The Maharajah Jungle Trek is similar to the Pangani Trail with animals from the sub-continent.  The other popular attraction here is the Kali River Rapids a raft ride combining a thrill ride with some lovely scenery.

DINOLAND USA

This section is all rides with a palaeontology theme.  It includes the Boneyard (playground made out of bones!), Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur.

CAMP MINNIE-MICKEY

Here you will find some trails to follow which are dotted with Disney characters.  Pocahontas and the Festival of the Lion King are very popular shows.

For places to eat try the Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland and the Rainforest Cafe near the entrance to the park.  Restaurantosaurus is basically a MacDonalds but does character breakfasts.  Check out the animatronics in the Rainforest Cafe.
